Oxygen the most important substance which we inhale each and every second to be alive. It’s abundant, and it’s free everywhere on Earth. Oxygen and water both are God’s gift to us.

But when we are not well, when we don’t take proper care of our health, we might face situation where breathing becomes difficult. That’s why it is said, “Precaution is better than cure.” In this corona period there is so much hue and cry everywhere because of oxygen. Things which are not in our hand we can’t change them, but we can change what is in our hand. Being healthy and fit is the need of the hour and it is not an impossible task.

Along with yoga, exercise and meditation its important to know about foods which can increase the oxygen level in our body naturally.

So let’s see how can we oxygenate our body.

Oxygen rich food : Eat foods which have high oxygen level and iron level in them. Alkaline level in these foods are very high, which in turn increases our bloodstream.

Top fruits and vegetables rich in oxygen:

Lemon: Lemon is a citrus fruit high in water and alkaline level. Has loads of antioxidants in it which increases oxygen in our body. Having a glass of lemonade everyday keeps our body healthy and hydrated.

Spinach: From childhood our parents shout at us to have or include leafy vegetables in our diet. Spinach contain high level of iron. Loaded with various antioxidants and nutrients its good for our health. Mix it with salad, or steam it, or just stir-fry, to get good health result.

Carrot: High in ph level helps in increasing oxygen in our body. It’s good to have it as salad rather than cooking it.

Broccoli: Broccoli a dark green vegetable, which looks like cauliflower is rich in iron contain and is nutritious too. It’s delicious when baked with capsicum and beans. We can also include it in our salad or can be eaten steamed. In all the form it’s delicious as well as nutritious.

Legumes: Legumes or our Indian daals are rich source of oxygen. It helps in reducing bad cholesterol and are rich in protein level as well. We should have it, the way we are having it from ancient time, a bowl a day.

Potatoes: Potatoes also contains high level of iron and is good for our health. It tastes good when its boiled or baked.

Garlic: From ancient times garlic was used for its medical benefits. Its good for cold and cough as well as it helps in increasing the blood level in our body. Though it smells pungent, it tastes delicious when cooked with curries. It is also helpful for corona virus.

kidney beans: Kidney beans are very nutritious containing high level of iron and folate in it . It should be soaked overnight and cooked properly before eating. It might give unhealthy results if eaten without cooking properly.

Walnuts: Rich in iron level these nuts are good for our health. It’s a good source of omega 3 fatty acid which helps in lowering bad cholesterol.

Banana: Having high level of alkaline in it, it’s good source to increase oxygen in our body. It’s a tasty and healthy fruit which we can have daily.

Apart from eating healthy food it is very important to keep a watch on, how we are eating them. Fruits are considered to be healthy when it is eaten raw and vegetables, when steamed or boiled. Overcooking of anything destroys the nutrients in it. Also it’s important to keep a watch on the quantity of fruits and vegetable we are eating. For example if I say papaya is good for health, it does not mean you are going to eat the whole papaya everyday just because it’s healthy. One slice of it is good to have with other fruits and veggies. Remember excess of anything is not good. Every fruit and vegetable has its own health benefit so we must have them all in small portions.

Reduce salt intake: We can not eat food without salt. Its a type of magical powder which makes the food tasty, when added a pinch into it. It’s a good source of iodine. But, we should always keep a check, on our salt intake as it’s harmful when it’s taken in excess.

Keep calm: When we are in any dilemma we lose our calm, but in such conditions its very important to keep calm. Regular breathing exercises and meditation helps us to learn the skill of keeping calm.

Keep Hydrated: We must drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily. Always try to intake more fluids which in turn will keep our body hydrated. It’s very important to keep our body hydrated as it regulates our body temperature and prevent infections.

Plant more Trees: Last but not the least, plant more trees. Trees are the only source of natural oxygen to us. When we have lots of trees we have ample oxygen to breath in. Amazon the largest forest of the world, caught fire last year and 15 to 17 percent of the forest was destroyed. Trees are being cut everyday for one or the other reason. But how many of us think of planting trees or to protect them? So let’s plant more trees, and let’s breath more.

“Oxygen plays a pivotal role in the proper functioning of the immune system. We can look at oxygen deficiency as the single greatest cause of all diseases…” Stephen Levine.
